Notes for Saphronia DUFFIN

Saphronia (Duffin) Happoldt was born in Charleston, SC, and left there
with her family and husband the day the Civil War began. They moved to
Baltimore, MD to be safe and lived with relatives for a while.

In searching for the records on her beginnings, the St. John's Lutheran
Church stated that every one of their early records were taken to
Columbia for safe keeping, and that the whole city of Columbia was
burned, destroying the records of their church.
